I'd been commissioned | by Colin Jacobson, editor of (the now long-gone) | 'Reportage' magazine; they'd later make a little booklet | to insert in the next issue to commemorate the event. | Colin had been very supportive of 'The Shipping Forecast' | during the early days, and asked me to convene | to work in the same manner, killing two birds | with one stone. | Soon after I took this I retreated to a local pub | to watch the historic meeting of the French and English | on TV.
