In artist's hand, in white, upper right corner of image: "BAINBRIDGE". In blue type, beneath image, center: "A careless Centurion from Gaul | Tore his toga on Hadrian's wall | He longed for his home | And the comforts of Rome"; continues in red, across bottom of page: " - or Verulamium, which had all mod., cons., inc. centr. heat. (some of them | are still there). Green Line chariots on routes 712, 713 and 714 would have | taken him from Londium to St. Albans, via Via Watling. Et tu Brute." In tiny black type, bottom edge of image, left: "756/1573 M/1500"; right: "THE BAYNARD PRESS".
