Notes:
[1] A wax seal on the back of the panel indicates the work was with Sedelmeyer, Paris.

[2] A stamp on the back of the panel from Leggatt Brothers gives the following provenance: Captain Constable; Alexander Young; Dr Barbour, Edinburgh; H&M Fison Collection. There is another label on the back, which reads “H & M Fison”. H refers to Henry Fison, while M presumably refers to his wife’s middle name, Marjorie. The work was exhibited by the Leggatt Brothers, see, Summer Exhibition of English Pictures, including the collection of H.L. Fison, 1956 https://search.worldcat.org/title/77798464

[3] The work was previously known as "Wooling Hall" per Graham Reynolds, The early paintings of John Constable (New Haven: Yale University Press, 1996), 1:162, https://collections.britishart.yale.edu/catalog/orbis:3892926
