Regal Power holding a | Golden rod & supported by the strength & solidity of Government who come to their | Assistance & command Plenty to bestow Riches upon Arts & sciences. near mount"; lettered, lower center: "The BRAZEN AGE"; lettered, lower right: "J. Simon fecit | Parnassus, Poetry, Sculptur, & Geometry attend their Favours. Painting Architec | ture, & Comedy are half buried. Melpomene the Muse of Tragedy seems inactive | & the Genius's sleeping are Symbols of Drowsiness & ye disregard of Knowledge."
