Lady Frances (d. 1695) was the daughter of Thomas Lennard, fifteenth Lord Dacre (later Earl of Sussex), and his second wife Anne, who was the illegitimate daughter of King Charles II and one of his powerful mistresses, Barbara Villiers, Duchess of Cleveland (ca. 1640-1709). Lady Frances and her husband Francis, Lord Brudenell, became further entangled in the King's affairs when their daughter married the grandee Charles Lennox, first Duke of Richmond and Lennox (1672-1723), who was himself the illegitimate son of Charles and another of his official mistresses, Louise Renée de Penancoët de Kéroualle, duchess of Portsmouth (1649-1734).
