The showroom of Morris & Co. originally opened in 1877 at 264 Oxford Street, London; the address was re-numbered 449 in February 1882.
"We think we may venture to enumerate them, since they are so various of kind, that some of them may have escaped notice even of our customers, and of those who are looking out for such wares ... 1st. Painted glass windows ... 2nd. "Arras" tapestry, woven in the high warp loom ... 3rd. Carpets ... 4th Carpets, hand made ... 5th. Embroidery ... 6th. Printed cotton goods ... 7th.
