- Comprises a frontispiece portrait of Lairesse, followed by a series of prints predominantly by him, along with engravings by his students or contemporaries. Almost all known copies of the work exhibit differences in content and order. There are four known states. The first bears the imprint of N. Visscher; the second and third, that of G. Valck (in the third the plates are numbered); the fourth, that of P. or L. Schenck. See: Timmers.
"Le style de la gravure [of the frontispiece portrait of Lairesse] est celui des années 75 ... mais la planche n'a certainment pas été publiée à cette date-là, mais après 1690, lorsque Laraisse vendit toutes ses planches à Nicolas Visscher, qui fit alors ajouter le portrait de Lairesse par une autre main et s'en servit comme frontispiece de l'album comportant la majorité des gravures du maître."--Roy.

BAC: British Art Center copy comprises 116 engravings on 57 sheets. A complete inventory of the plates present in the BAC copy is available in the object file (viewable upon request). Plates bear the imprint of Nicolas Visscher. Title page is the third state containing the engraved medallion with the motto "Vivitur/Ingenio." Bound in later green half morocco and marbled boards.
