Letter to Hilda Caroline, Stanley Spencer's first wife, dated July 5, 1942, from Ladywood, Grasmere, Westmorland, mainly regarding Sir William Rothenstein. Illustrated with two pen and ink and colored crayon sketches of Rothenstein working on a portrait of Lord Cowdray. Spencer also discusses the fate of his "Home Guard" drawings, mentions Paul Nash, and comments on his wartime activities.
