Slick black boards; printed in gold on front and back covers and spine, blind stamped on front and back covers, floral design in gilt on front and back covers. Tan cloth slip-case; tan leather label with gold lettering on spine. The title page is reproduced. Half-title, title-page, 67 wood engravings in text, 1 wood engraving on title-page, (wood engraving ornamental headpieces are not counted), publisher's ads. Illustrations by C. Hancock, Dickes, H. Alken, Earle, T. Landseer, R.B. Davis, W. Kidd, Davis Cooper, and George Landseer. Spine height: 8 1/4 inches. Note: The blank leaf that precedes the publisher's advertisements at the back of volume is an integral leaf of the advertising section. The ads are dated December 1, 1840.
