BAC: British Art Center copy 1 is the Abbey copy (Scenery, 438). A large paper copy (45 cm), bound in half russia and marbled boards. Armorial bookplate: Joseph Neeld. The plates are hand-colored. Plate 23 in first state: masters bareheaded. Plate 26 in third state: boys playing cricket instead of washerwomen, and title re-engraved.
BAC: British Art Center copy 2 is the Abbey copy (Scenery, 439). A large paper copy (43 cm), bound in red half leather and marbled boards. An uncolored proof copy (of a limited edition of 25), with plates mounted on India paper. First state throughout. Plate no. 26 lettered before the addition of an overslip; in later printings, the word "School" was omitted from the title. In plate no. 23, "Westminster school room," the masters are bareheaded.
BAC: British Art Center copy 3 is the Abbey copy (Scenery, 440) Bound in contemprary half leather and marbled boards (38 cm). Plates are hand-colored. Includes the "Arrangement of plates" leaf at end. The first three plates are bound in the following order: 3,1, 2. Plate 23 in first state. Plate 26 in second state, with washerwoman, and overslip over original "school" title, reading: Charter House, from the Play ground.
BAC: British Art Center copy 4 in publisher's 12 original parts (37 cm), in gray printed wrappers (with publisher's advertisements). Plates are hand-colored.
BAC: British Art Center copy 5 bound in red morocco, by Riviere (34 cm).
