The box is intact, with original hinges, latch, and key. The top lid features an inlay of shell design. The interior is divided into six primary compartments, three of which have lids. A narrow drawer at the base of the box house assorted implements for painting and gilding. Includes tubes of pigment manufactured by Winsor & Newton. Oils present include: Vandyke brown, megilp burnt sienna, white no. 1, ivory black, and crimson lake.
Also present are: a glazed mixing tray; one or two bottles of varnish; four brushes; a mortar-like dish; a bottle of sand, possibly for blotting; and various other small implements. - Form/Genre:
