"The book was satirised in "My pocket book, or, Hints for a ryghte merrie and conceited tour". It resulted in an action for libel, with a judgment for the defendant. The author of the satire was Edward Dubois, father of Tom Hood"--Cf. Abbey.

BAC : British Art Center has two copies, both of which are Abbey copies. The plates in copy 1 (Scenery 454) are hand-colored. Inscribed: John Wilkins, 1809. Ink stamp: W.W. Meredith, Viotoria Chambers, Merthyr Tydfil. Bound in quarter calf and marbled boards.
BAC: British Art Center copy 2 (Scenery 455) has uncolored aquatints. Bound in half russia and marbled boards.
