Humorous story conveyed in 29 cartes de visite in a carte-de-visite album. The title card is lithographed and provides introductory text. It is followed by 28 numbered albumen print photographs of comical drawings illustrating the gluttonous night-out of Alderman Akeinside at his club, his inebriated return home, and his final consultation with Dr. Sloe and Mrs. Akeinside. The cards are mounted within paper window mats on thick card stock with borders chromolithographed in gold. Each photograph includes a small (2 cm x 5 cm) piece of lithographed narrative text mounted below the image. Some text is mounted so that page numbering at the bottom of the text is exposed. Cards have the imprint "Published by B. & Co. London (Wholesale)" within a circle on the verso, undated.
The drawings reproduced in the cartes de visite are presumably those in an album now in the collections of the Houghton Library at Harvard University with the title "Alderman Akeinside's club dinner" and signature "GB (GBR?) or GRB?" (Houghton Library, Harry Elkins Widener Collection, HEW 1.13.1). - Subject Terms:
