Notes:
BAC: British Art Center copy bound in publisher's original decorated magenta cloth, in black slipcase. The pages for subscribers' names are blank.
The dummy was designed to facilitate orders of the full publication, by traveling salespersons or by shopkeepers. Included in the dummy are sections of the complete work, with articles on rheumatism, bone fractures, the nervous system, the liver, tapeworm, constipation, skin problems, mortality of children, diseases of women, adulterated food stuffs, beverages, exercise, bandaging, duties of a sick nurse etc., together with illustrations, some in color. The end of the volume includes eight pages of ruled tables for recording the names and addresses of subscribers.
The publishers have also included sample spines of the two-volume and single-volume de luxe edition in green calf, and a sample of the issue in four cloth-bound division, together with a sample of the wrapper for the part issue. All the different sections and samples are then bound together in the decorative cloth that was issued in divisions format. Although only the part issue is signed "T.M. 96" (i.e., Talwin Morris, 1896), it is clear that Morris also produced the designs for the other binding styles.
