- Notes:
- Enamel patch box likely manufactured at Bilston, England, ca. 1790. The hand-painted top lid of the box depicts a pair of doves, each perched atop a heart, flanking the words "Tho absent not forgotten." The base of oval box is fluted and enamelled blue. The underside of the lid contains the remnants of the original mirror. The design is nearly identical to that of an object identified as a pill box in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum (see object 331-1907; http://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O344599/pill-box/).
