"October, 1803. The exertion made by the whole kingdom, in the present momentous crisis, in the formation of the numerous volunteer corps, has called on the author of this treatise, for a new edition of it, much earlier than he had expected; and has obliged him to use all possible expedition in the publication of it, without waiting for the additions he had prepared, and which will now be published in the form of an appendix."--Page [i].
The Appendix includes separate title page, register, and pagination; the numbering of plates, however, is continuous.
