Bound in contemporary gilt-tooled red morocco.
Mid-19th century scrap album and commonplace book, compiled by an unidentified "H.C.B.", circa 1855. Contents comprise an even balance of prints, drawings, and verse. It opens with a "Definition of album" (2 p.), and includes miscellaneous verse, copied (in pen and black ink) in multiple hands. It includes several fairly accomplished topographical drawings, in graphite, and a greater number of hand-colored engravings, of subjects such as ships, birds, street scenes, and fashion and costume plates.
